Harry Lorton
Harry has been Non-executive Chairman of the company since June 2004.
He is Deputy Chairman of Royal Liver Assurance Limited of Liverpool UK and is a Non-executive Director of ICS Building Society, part of the Bank of Ireland Group. He also serves as a Director of a number of private companies involved in software and property. He is a member of the National Competitiveness Council.
Previously Harry spent 33 years in the banking industry, including 12 years as CEO of Cork & Limerick Savings Bank, TSB Bank and Permanent TSB. He holds a degree in Business Studies from Trinity College, Dublin and is a graduate of the Owner/President Program of Harvard Business School.
Harry professes to enjoy a challenge – he has white-water rafted in the Grand Canyon, hiked the Inca Trail, climbed Mt Kilimanjaro and has even trekked to Timbuktu; his current challenge is to complete the Camino de Santiago de Compostela – (250km done, 500km more to go). On top of all of that, he is a former President both of the Institute of Bankers in Ireland and of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and was a Board Member of the Irish Management
