Robin O’Sullivan appointed as member of RTE’s first statutory Audience Council
Robin O'Sullivan, Board member at H+A Marketing + PR, has been appointed a member of RTE's first statutory Audience Council. According to the legislation the council's principal function is to represent the views and interests of the general public with regard to public service broadcasting by RTE. The fifteen member council is chaired by Professor Gearoid O Tuaithaigh of NUIG and held its first meeting at the end of July.
A Public Relations practitioner since 1969 and an Hon Fellow of the Public Relations Institute of Ireland, Robin O’Sullivan started his working life as a reporter and later sub-editor with the then Cork Examiner and Evening Echo. He was RTE’s first Reporter in Cork. He worked with the John Daly Group as PR/Personnel Manager and as a Director of Coca-Cola Bottlers prior to establishing his own company in 1981. This merged with H+A Marketing + PR in 2008.
At various times he has been the Director of the Cork Film Festival, a member of Bord Scannan na hEireann and a Director of the Irish Film Theatre. A member of the Board of Cork Chamber he has served as its President and was also President of Chambers Ireland. He is a Board member of the National Consumer Agency, and is a member of the Development Committee of the Cork Cancer Research Centre.
Sporting interests –rugby and GAA. Other pastimes - reading, travel, films, television/media. He is married, has five grown-up children and six grand- daughters.
