Cork City Council’s New Advertising Campaign to Promote Lonely Planet Accolade

This May Bank Holiday weekend sees an exciting new billboard campaign being rolled out across the city. The campaign which has been designed by H+A Marketing + PR promotes Cork City's inclusion in the Lonely Planet 'Best in Travel 2010' Guide. Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr. Dara Murphy with City Manager Joe Gavin unveiled the new billboard advertising campaign yesterday.

The campaign will run for four months - from the end of April to the end of August - on billboard sites at major entry and exit points to Cork by road, rail, ferry and air, as well as prominent sites throughout the city centre.

Commenting on the new advertising campaign City Manager Joe Gavin said: “The advertising features colourful graphic representation of the vibrant and diverse cultural attractions visitors can enjoy in Cork City - from Shandon Church to the English Market. The signpost visual serves to remind Cork people and visitors to the city and county that some of the world’s best city attractions are located right here on our doorstep in Cork City and we encourage people to take advantage of all the wonderful attractions it has to offer.”

Cork’s Lord Mayor Cllr. Dara Murphy said: “The billboard campaign is vibrant and simple and we hope it will generate greater awareness of Cork City’s Lonely Planet accolade among locals and visitors alike.”

There will be a third new visual rolled out in June to keep the campaign fresh and sustain positive momentum over the summer months.  In addition, the bespoke iPhone app and information booklet promoting The Top 10 Permanent Tourist Attractions in Cork including well known visitor highlights such as Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral, The English Market and The Crawford Art Gallery will be ready in July 2010.
