People aren’t stupid!

More and more over the last few weeks, I’ve heard interviewers in the broadcast media tell their guests to stay away from facts and figures in the NAMA debate. From Newstalk to Morning Ireland to Prime Time, the instruction has gone out to guests to stop talking figures and put it in a way the viewer or listener can ‘understand’.

So the Chairman of the Referendum Commission sees a big increase in understanding of the Lisbon Treaty this time around. That’s good news certainly, now all we need is for those whose understanding has improved to come out and vote ‘Yes’ in October.

Today Ireland goes to the polls for local and European elections and two by-elections in Dublin. After months of canvassing and a month of postering the streets of the country, the people will cast their votes.
